No graduate credit. Approved for honors grading. May be repeated in the same or separate terms to a maximum of 12 hours. Prerequisite: Consent of the department.

Topic:Topic: A Capstone Course in Analysis, Algebra and Geometry. We will discuss matrix Lie groups from an algebraic, geometric and analytic viewpoint. Emphasis will be placed on examples and applications. The course provides an elementary introduction to Lie groups at an advanced undergraduate level. Students in Math, Physics, and Engineering are all welcome. Prerequisites: Real analysis (447, 424 or equivalent), Abstract Algebra (417, 427 or equivalent) and Linear Algebra (415 or 416)."
