Workshop" Section Info: Prerequistes: UP 347, Graduate Status, or by permission of Alice Novak, Assistant Head(novak2@illinois.edu) Students will apply principles and techniques of active transportation system design to a real world setting including: complete streets, pedestrian, bicycle, and transit planning, design, and policy analysis. Students will apply concepts and skills from prior courses and work in teams to compile, synthesize, and communicate information that will further active transportation planning and design. Project focus on a potential redevelopment project in the community. Research techniques including tools such as Walkability/Bikeability checklists, analysis of demographic, social, economic, and transportation data/infrastructure, trends and key stakeholder interviews. Public input meeting for students to showcase ideas. Concluding presentations to staff at MTD, the City of Urbana, and local agencies.
