Introduces sociological theory and research on globalization, in debate with the literature on modernization, world-systems, and development/underdevelopment. Explores recent economic, political, and cultural change at macro-sociological level. Themes include: global governance and world society, global diffusion of American culture, global capitalism, and new forms of social resistance.
Prerequisite: SOC 100 or consent of instructor.
