Migration in the Long Term: Nomadism, Civility, and the Question of Settlement. In many European and non-European countries, new events are understood and interpreted through the memory of distant historical experiences that may or may not be related to the new situation. Our goal is to provide students with the tools to recognize the presence of coded representations of migrant people and citizens and become aware of the unintended consequences of the use of such tropes.
