Exotic invasive species have become a global issue making headline news. This online course examines the human dimension of non-native plants and animals in the United States, from nineteenths-century invasions by insect by insect pests to the current controversy about Asian carp in the Midwest. Readings will cover historical, social, economic, political, and ethical aspects of the invasive species phenomenon. No field trip is required for online section.
