Exploring Energy and Climate Change through Chemistry: Humanity faces two grand, interlocking challenges: the ever-increasing demand for energy in the face of a finite supply of fossil fuels, and the climate change caused by burning those fossil fuels. This course will engage students in an exploration of these twin challenges, equip them with the fundamentals of chemistry and allied physical sciences needed to understand these challenges, and enable them to critically evaluate potential solutions that could move our society towards sustainability. Students will be assumed to have a solid (ideally honors or AP-level) high school chemistry preparation, and fluency in pre-calculus secondary school mathematics. First Year Discovery Program Course. Registration restricted to freshmen. Students should enroll in only one Discovery course
