Investigation of special problems and current topics in industrial and/or graphic design. Students will conduct original research which will be shared through papers, presentations, and discussions.

3 undergraduate hours. 4 graduate hours. May be repeated in separate terms to a maximum of 6 undergraduate hours or 8 graduate hours. Prerequisite: Junior standing in Art and Design or consent of instructor.

Developing Design Thinking
Section Info:
Topic: Developing Design Thinking in Multi-Disciplinary Teams. This workshop orientated course involves working in teams of Industrial designers and engineers on human centred design opportunities. There will be some lecture content on design thinking, ideation strategies, empathic design research, prototyping, entrepreneurship and business planning, team working and communication. The course is supported by the TEC and also has funding from the National Conference for Innovators and Inventors Alliance ( NCIIA ) to cover project and prototyping expenses. Student teams will become NCIIA E-teams with encouragement to apply for additional funding in the future. Undergraduate Section. Open to Grad and Senior ID students, Grad and senior Eng students ( others by permission of the instructor ).
