An extension of TAM 428. Advanced analysis of composite materials. Anisotropic elasticity; micromechanical theories; behavior of composite plates and beams under bending, buckling, and vibration; advanced elasticity solution techniques; hygrothermal behavior of polymer composites; strength prediction theories and failure mechanisms in composites; processing of metal, ceramic, and polymer composites; analysis of residual stresses.
Prerequisite: TAM 428.
