Section Info:
The Politics of National Parks. This seminar looks at the political and policy issues around protecting the environment in national parks. We will consider the politics around creating such parks, the local interests that support or oppose them, the politics of managing them effectively, and policy questions such as the value of wilderness, ecosystem management, and endangered species protection. As a seminar, it emphasizes critical reading skills, writing, and discussion. First Year Discovery Program Course. Registration restricted to first time freshmen. Students should enroll in only one Discovery course.
