Examines specific topics in Latina/Latino Studies not addressed in regularly offered courses. Examples include theories of ethnic identity, historical foundations, cultural expression, and relevant topics in public policy studies of Latina/Latino communities.

May be repeated in the same or separate terms to a maximum of 6 hours.

This course will examine the social, political, cultural history of Puerto Ricans in the diaspora, dating from 1898 to the present. We will examine the historic and political settings that have shaped. Puerto Rican migration, as well as the constructions of Puerto Rican national and diaspora identity through historical readings, literature, and film.
