Examines the range of federal and state constitutional and statutory sources that apply to the constituents (pupils, parents, teachers, administrators, and board members) engaged in public schools. Emphasizes development of legal analytical skills.

Prerequisite: Graduate standing in the College of Education or consent of instructor.

Priority will be given to department majors.

Online and Continuing Education (OCE) restrictions and assessments apply, see http://www.oce.illinois.edu. Class sessions will be held on the following weekends: Sept 21 & 22, Oct 5 & 6, 25 & 26, Nov 9 & 10, 30 and Dec 1. Friday sessions will meet from 5:30-9:30pm. Saturday session will meet from 8:00am ? 5:00pm. This class is restricted to EdM and CAS students in cohort 12.This course is part of a self-supporting program and DOES NOT accept the following tuition and fee waivers (TFWs): Cooperating Teacher waivers, Non-Academic waivers (including UIUC employees and employees of other state institutions), Academic waivers from UIUC, UIC and UIS employees, Related Agency waivers, Field Supervisor waivers, waivers granted through fellowships/assistantships as governed by the Graduate College at UIUC, or Retiree waivers. This program DOES accept statutory waivers (veterans grants, etc.).
