Topic: Nightmares of Nero Insturctor: Brian Walters, Visiting Lecturer This course provides an in depth study of the culture and literature of Rome in the 50s and 60s CE. Special emphasis will be placed on the works of Seneca, Petronius, and Lucan. In particular, the course will ask how and in what ways their gruesome and maddening texts reflect life in the Neronian age.
