Philosophical issues in biology covering basic concepts such as fitness, evolution, adaptation, natural selection, and issues such as the unit of selection, genetic reductionism, cultural evolution.
Same as IB 495. 3 undergraduate hours. 3 or 4 graduate hours. Graduate students taking the course for 4 hours will be expected to do additional reading and write more substantial papers. Prerequisite: Two courses in philosophy or two courses in biology; or consent of instructor.
