Sport and Gender
Section Info:
Sport is used in documentary, popular films, and other media to represent wide-ranging issues related to diversity. In this course, we will use in-class screenings, readings, and interactive experiences, to examine and critically analyze those representations. This semester, our readings and discussions are organized around four areas: sport and gender; sport and disability; sport and race; and sport and globalization. Topics covered include: alternative white masculinities; gender ideals and sport; disability, technology, and sport; sport, race, and global capitalism; sport and sustainability. First Year Discovery Program Course. Registration restricted to freshmen. Students should enroll in only one Discovery course.

Not intended for students with Sophomore, Junior, or Senior class standing.
Restricted to First Time Freshman students.
