Topic: Introduction to Design Through Craft. Introduction to the elements, principles, and processes of design. Students will investigate basic design concepts in five three-week workshops in craft/material studies. Design strategies will be introduced via a survey of basic techniques in metalworking, glassmaking, bookmaking, ceramics, and fiber. Expressive Painting & Drawing
Section Info:
Topic: Expressive & Creative Painting and Drawing. Using a variety of materials the students will create imagery in drawing and painting techniques. Drawing exercises will include contour, gesture and story illustration and progressive/ automatic drawing. Students will be asked to respond to a variety of subject matter. Painting techniques will include watercolor, Wet into Wet and the English method. Acrylic painting methods will include direct painting and washes. Energy and individual expression will be expected. Matting and presentation techniques will be completed. Group and individual critiques will follow each artistic exercise. First year Discovery Program course. Registration restricted to freshman. Students should only enroll in one Discovery course.
