Topic: Transnationalism and Diaspora Transnational" is a term that calls our attention to circuits of political, economic, and social phenomena --for instance, of media, money, and migrants-- across the boundaries of nation-states. ?Diaspora? refers to those persons and populations who have moved, voluntarily or not, across such boundaries and and to their experiences or cultures. This course in explores these phenomena, as well as the terms, methodologies, and theoretical interventions of transnational and diaspora studies as an interdisciplinary critical field that draws from the vocabularies of postcolonial studies and race and ethnic studies, and examines their particular impact and importance for understanding the global nature of "Asian America."
