Section Title:
Intro to EU Studies
Section Info:
Introduction to EU Studies: Current Trends and Debates in the Scholarship This course is intended to serve as an introduction to the field of EU Studies for graduate students. We will engage with a series of speakers and readings that will provide a broad overview of the relevant debates and trends in contemporary scholarship on the European Union. The goal is that at the end of this course students with an interest in the EU will have a clearer idea of the various disciplinary, theoretical, and methodological approaches to EU Studies; and more fundamentally, how to define EU Studies as a singular (but thoroughly interdisciplinary) field. To that end, we will hear from scholars representing a variety of departments, but they will deliver lectures that cut across disciplinary boundaries. This course will meet during the second eight weeks of the semester (October 17-December 7) in room 307 International Studies Bldg, 910 S Fifth St. For more information, contact Sebnem Ozkan at asozkan@illinois.edu. This course fulfills requirements for the EU Studies graduate minor and MA in EU Studies, but is open to graduate students across campus. Undergraduates need prior approval from instructor to register for this course.
