Explores the Japanese Tea Ceremony and its relevance to everyday life. Students will acquire a better understanding of Japanese culture and a new appreciation of their own cultures through the study of the Tea Ceremony and the Zen worldview that informs it.

The main theme of this course is the exploration of how the Japanese Tea Ceremony can be applied to everyday life. Through the study of the Tea Ceremony and the Zen worldview, it is hoped that students will acquire a better understanding of Japanese culture and also come to see their own culture in a new light. This class also includes hands-on experiences of learning the tea ceremony procedures, tea ceremony dinner cooking and weet making, and kimono dressing.
