Teaches the pathologic basis of veterinary disease processes affecting organs and anatomic systems in domestic animal species. Includes mechanisms of and responses to cell and tissue injury in a chronological sequence of events (portal of entry - target cells - cellular injury - visual appearance of injury - resolution of injury - clinical outcomes), interplay of host defense and reparative mechanisms with microbes and injurious agents, and the recognition of and interpretation of macroscopic and microscopic lesions that result from such injury. 4 graduate or professional hours. Prerequisite: Second-year standing in veterinary curriculum or consent of instructor.
