Section Info: This course will introduce students to major genres of Japanese literature from 1600 to the present. In addition to reading major works of prose, poetry, and drama, students will learn something of the historical background and cultural traditions that helped shape these literary works. All readings are in English. No knowledge of East Asian languages or prior coursework on East Asian cultures is required. This course satisfies the General Education Criteria for Literature and the Arts, and Non-Western Cultures course. Same as EALC 306
