Topic: Weight Management Coaching. Provides students with scholarly knowledge and practical experience related to coaching individuals with weight management issues. Students will examine philosophies, health behavior theories, strategies, and motivational techniques needed to assist individuals with weight management concerns from both nutrition and exercise perspectives. Practical experience will be gained by assisting with a Department of Kinesiology and Community Health weight management program. Students will acquire an understanding of working with different personalities, managing different goals, and preparing individualized programs. Students will, also, learn about weight management coaching across the lifespan, including working with different age groups and health concerns.
