Academic Outreach restrictions and assessments apply; see http://www.outreach.uiuc.edu. This course offers Ayacucho Quechua, a Southern Peruvian Quechua variety closely related to the varieties spoken in Cuzco and Bolivia, and a standard for Quechua writing. For each chapter, students first view an audio-enhanced PowerPoint lecture that highlights specific grammatical points of interest, followed by a set of self-check exercises. Then students proceed to the listening/speaking exercises, which provide example of authentic language use based on different topics surrounding the culture of Quechua-speaking communities. These recordings are accompanied by pictures which help to understand the topic better. All semesters of Quechua are listed under LAST 445. Register for section AO1 for your first semester.
