Glycans in Biology and Medicine. 3 hours. Covers structure, synthesis and function of protein- and lipid- bound carbohydrates and of polysaccharides. Topics include roles of glycans in microbial and eukaryotic cell biology, glycans in cellular interactions, signaling and development, glycan alterations in human disease, glycan synthetic processes as antimicrobial drug targets, and glycans in biotechnology.
