Section Title:
Understanding Global Water Iss
Section Info:
Water is considered one of the major global concerns of our day, whether it is in terms of quality or access. It has been argued that within the next decade wars will be fought over water rather than oil. Understanding the complexities of an issue of this magnitude requires examination of the socio-cultural, economic and political factors which complicate any broad-based attempt to summarize the situation. This course will look at the emerging issues of water on a global scale through the use of narrative. We will look into water issues in the U.S., Mexico, Bolivia, South Africa and India with an aim to contextualize the overlapping and competing concerns involved in global water issues and debates.
