Portfolio Management
Section Info:
Registration restricted to declared Finance majors through Nov. 30. Any remaining seats will open to other College of Business students at approximately noon on Dec. 1. COURSE DESCRIPTION: This is an experiential course focusing on investment analysis in the context of the investment management industry. The goal of this class is to give students working knowledge of the industry by drawing upon the experience of simulated investment presentations to portfolio managers (in the classroom setting). The course will help students generate superior investment ideas by conducting creative, value-added research. Students will act as equity analysts by working through the investment process: idea generation, analysis, and presentation, and should walk away with a working knowledge of the investment management industry. Student teams will pitch a series of both long and short ideas to both the Professor and the class. Because the simulation will mimic an actual presentation in a fund environment, the students will also learn the terminology associated with communication to portfolio managers and other investment peers. In short, the goal of the course is to leave you prepared for your job interviews in the investment management community."
Restriction(s):
Restricted to Curric Unassigned or Accountancy or Finance or Business Administration or Marketing or Information Sys & Info Tech or Supply Chain Management or Business Process Management or Management major(s). Restricted to Undergrad - Urbana-Champaign.
