Approved for both letter and S/U grading. May be repeated in separate terms to a maximum of 3 hours.

This course is designed to introduce students to community development practices and the participatory approach followed by the East St. Louis Action Research Project (ESLARP). Detailed information about the course is available at www.eslarp.uiuc.edu. Enrollment in this class requires attendance in two in-class sessions (one lecture, one discussion) and one outreach weekend. The outreach weekend is April 3-4. Lecture will be offered on 3-31-09 and 4-1-09, from 5pm-6:30pm. Discussion will be offered on 4-14-09 and 4-15-09, from 5pm-6:30pm. In consultation with Instructor, students will decide which lecture and discussion they will attend after they register for the course.
