CAREER AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT FOR WOMEN IN ENGINEERING: This course will assist female students in gaining a better appreciation of the career opportunities available in the engineering field, and the ways in which people working in these fields benefit society. Female students will have an opportunity to learn what it is like to be in a particular position; to learn what strategies can be used to navigate their various responsibilities and advance their careers. Topics related to careers, such as techniques for time management, balancing family and career demands, conflict management, and the use of power and influence will be addressed. APPROVED AS OTHER SOCIAL SCIENCE / HUMANITY COURSE IN ENGINEERING.

EMISSION SENSING AND REDUCTION Course covers design and implementation of gas and aerosol pollutant sensing, and measures to improve and verify in air emissions. Application to field and in-use settings, especially in developing countries, is emphasized. Projects vary with student background and interest. Examples include electrical circuits and sensor design, sampling air flow, and thermodynamics and heat transfer in simple combustion devices.
