A major semester project will allow you the opportunity to (a) create a product, process or service or (b) create solutions for a nonprofit organization with a self-defined need or opportunity. Introduction to engineering measurement techniques and methods. Historical context, classic results, and key people who have pioneered measurement philosophy and technology. Methods related to the mechanical sciences, including measurement of distances and locations; physical properties; environmental properties such as temperature, pressure, humidity, and wind speed. Basic two-dimensional computer-aided drawing (CAD) skills. Effective communication of data, along with precision, accuracy, tolerances in written and graphical forms. Engineering communication through written and oral presentations. Peer-led experiments, small group decision-making, and leadership skill development.
