Numerical Methods I
Credit: 3 hours.
Introduction to numerical methods for students in science and engineering; topics include floating-point computation, systems of linear equations, approximation of functions and integrals, the single nonlinear equation, and the numerical solution of ordinary differential equations; discusses various applications in science and engineering; includes some programming as well as the use of high quality mathematical library routines. Same as MATH 357. Students with earned credit in CS 450 or MATH 450 may not receive additional credit for CS 357 or MATH 357. (Counts for advanced hours in LAS). Prerequisite: A 100-level computer science course; MATH 225 or MATH 415; MATH 243.
