Analyzes cutting-edge engineering technologies applied to molecular and cellular biology research. Introduces methods by which the properties of genes, molecules, and cells can be monitored, measured, manipulated, and modeled to advance understanding of the complex biological system. Presents recombinant DNA technologies, RNA and protein technologies, genetic engineering approaches for fluorescence biosensors and live-cell imaging, signaling regulation and tissue engineering.

Prerequisite: MCB 250.
