Credit: 2 hours.

An advanced course on the physiological basis of mammary growth, milk secretion, and udder health. Topics covered includes mammary gland anatomy, hormonal control, causes and control of mastitis, milk harvesting, and milk quality. The course will be delivered via CD and web-based synchronous discussion. Students should have a basic course in dairy/animal sciences, or physiology, or consent of the instructor before taking this course.

Students may not receive credit for this course and ANSC 438. Prerequisite: ANSC 201 or equivalent or consent of instructor.
