Section Info:
GENERAL EQUILIBRIUM ANALYSIS OF ENVIRONMENTAL TAX POLICY. Intended for PhD students in Finance, Economics, and ACES. The course focuses on analytical approaches that can be used promptly to do new research. To learn these techniques, we will replicate models that can be extended to address new questions. Initial lectures will cover: the theory of environmental externalities; the role of uncertainty; pollution control through taxes, quantity restrictions, and marketable permits; and general e quilibrium models that show the incidence of tax or environmental policy, including changes in all factor prices, input quantities, output prices, and welfare of each group in the economy.
