Philosophical examination of some fundamental concepts and theories of the physical world, such as time, matter, space, and geometry; interpretation of quantum theory. Graduate students write an additional paper.

Same as PHIL 420. Credit is not given for both PHYS 420 and PHYS 419. Junior standing is required. Prerequisite: One physical science course; one of PHYS 214, PHIL 101, PHIL 270, PHIL 317.
