Introduction of curriculum development, pedagogy and teaching at the university level with special focus on earth sciences and environmental sciences. Course content is structured around the development of a teaching portfolio by each students. Topics covered include: learning styles, syllabus writing and course development, teaching methods, best science teaching practices, incorporating science research in the classroom, technology in the classroom, developing a teaching philosophy, assessment and evaluation. Students will participate in microteaching exercises and develop a teaching portfolio.

Prerequisite: Consent of instructor.
