Credit: 3 hours.
Considers how competencies identified by the Illinois State Board of Education and the National Art Education Association inform the development of knowledge, dispositions, and resources for teaching art in a culturally diverse society, with particular attention to current theories and approaches to teaching art in Pre-School to Grade 12 settings. Emphasis is placed on professional development and reflective practices that engage inquiry-based teaching strategies, multicultural education, technology integration, and community contexts, as each of these interests are informed by contemporary critical social theory.
