Credit: 3 hours.

Crustal composition and evolution, physical properties of the lithospheric mantle and effects of temperature, petrology and texture, the isopycnic (tectosphere) hypothesis, rock mechanics and rheology, seismic anisotropy and petro-fabrics, and mechanisms of uplift.

Prerequisite: Equivalent of GEOL 411, GEOL 450 or GEOL 452, and GEOL 436 or GEOL 460, or consent of instructor.
