Elastic solutions relevant to soil mechanics; permeability; general application of Terzaghi's theory of one-dimensional consolidation; advances in consolidation theories; mechanism of volume change; delayed and secondary compressibility and creep; theory of three-dimensional consolidation and solutions; radial flow and design of sand drains; analysis and control of settlement.

Prerequisite: CEE 483.
