Reviews the observed general circulation of the earth's atmosphere; discusses the balance requirements of mass, momentum, and energy conservation; illustrates, by means of mathematical models and laboratory physical models, the important processes which determine the earth's and other planets' general circulation.

Prerequisite: ATMS 401 or equivalent, and ATMS 402.
