Provides a panoramic view of literary and cultural production in Spanish America between 1810 and 1900. Special attention paid to the emergence of "national literatures" within specific historical and political contexts.

3 undergraduate hours. 4 graduate hours. May be repeated to a maximum of 6 undergraduate hours or 8 graduate hours if topic varies. Prerequisite: SPAN 316 and SPAN 326.
