Beginning with an examination of the processes and ideas of Dada artists who utilized photo montage / collage and drawing in their art-making, this studio course will look at the contradictions and harmonies resulting from the juxtapositions of disparate materials and images. The work of contemporary artists, graphic novelists, children, and outsider/self taught artists will also be explored. Restriction(s): Restricted to Graduate - Urbana-Champaign.

Photographic assignments will be given and critiqued; we will also discuss the work of important contemporary photographers.
