Critical survey of methods and theories in the psychological study of the communication process; emphasis on linguistic, information-theory, and learning-theory approaches; psycholinguistic analysis of language decoding and encoding; and the development and measurement of symbolic processes, including meaning. Same as COMM 525, and LING 525. Prerequisite: Consent of instructor.
