Composite Materials

Credit: 3 OR 4 hours.

Introduction to metal and ceramic matrix composites, with an emphasis on understanding the interrelationships between processing, microstructure, and properties. The basis for selecting these systems for different engineering applications is considered. 3 undergraduate hours. 3 or 4 graduate hours. To receive 4 graduate hours credit, a comprehensive term paper is required. Prerequisite: Senior standing in Engineering or consent of instructor.
