Credit: 3 hours.
A study of the medieval literary sources (in English translation) - chronicles, romances, lais, fabliaux, poetry - that created the legend of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. Students will study the development of and changes in the legend, both in form and content, as it crossed cultural borders in the Middle Ages, e.g., from England to the continent and from France to Germany and Scandinavia.
