Analysis of representative works from the Middle East and Asia of the eighteenth to twentieth centuries, portraying literary, philosophical and religious achievements of the Islamic, Hindu, Buddhist and Confucian traditions and emphasizing comparative perspectives both within the range of non-Western traditions and in juxtaposition to Western thinking. All readings in English.
