Topic: Art and Innovation: The Artist as Inventor, Entrepreneur, and Outlaw. This course focuses on case studies of contemporary artists whose work challenges prevailing notions of typical practice, presenting students with alternatives to 'off the shelf' visions of what artists do, and creating in students an expanded sense of what opportunities might exist for practicing professsionals. In this writing-intensive course, students will also research and develop their own non-traditional projects; they will present and promote their ideas by writing plans, making proposals, preparing resumes and grants.
