(MUSIC 161) Elementary group instruction in piano for music majors whose principal performing medium is voice, or an orchestral or band instrument. Continuation of skills introduced in MUS 172. Sight-reading, harmonization, transposition, and improvisation. Easy solos from the main historical periods with appropriate technical development; introduction to piano ensemble literature.
Prerequisite: MUS 101, MUS 107; MUS 172 or equivalent; consent of instructor.
For school of music majors only. Must have completed MUS 101 or equivalent.
