(MATH 422) Properties of affine and projective varieties defined over algebraically closed fields; rational mappings, birational geometry and divisors, especially on curves and surfaces; introduction to the language of schemes; and Riemann-Roch theorem for curves.
Prerequisite: MATH 501.
