(E I L 367) Introduces students to current issues in the theory and practice of communicative language teaching. Discusses the notion that communication is a social event from three perspectives: theoretical linguistics; applied linguistics; and classroom teaching. Specific questions addressed range from a consideration of the nature of applied linguistics to issues related to student autonomy.
3 undergraduate hours. 4 graduate hours. Prerequisite: EIL 489, or consent of instructor.
