(ANTH 386) Culture, cultural history, and social systems of mainland Southeast Asia: Burma, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Assam Hills, upland southwestern China, and Malaya; emphasis on the interaction of complementary ethnic types in the context of local ecology and the Hindu-Buddhist systems of religion and politics of the lowland states.

Same as ASST 486. 3 undergraduate hours. 3 or 4 graduate hours. Prerequisite: ANTH 220 or ANTH 230, or consent of instructor.
