(LLS 296) Course examines specific topics in Latina/Latino Studies not addressed in regularly offered courses. Examples include theories of ethnic identity, historical foundations, cultural expression, and relevant topics in public policy studies of Latina/Latino communities.

Topic: Writing Latina/o Chicago Examines novels, poetry, and memoirs by Latinas and Latinos writing from Chicago. Through these texts we will track and analyze articulations of Latina/o identity, history, and culture within distinct Chicago geographies, paying close attention to questions of migration, sexuality, class, violence, race, and gender.
